The Local Economic Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina is being implemented until 31 July 2027 and represents the first four-year phase of a program implemented by Caritas Switzerland and NIRAS, and funded by the Swiss Government.
The program is implemented in 11 cities and municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of connecting the public and private sectors to support the development of local economies. The project will generate jobs and income, with a particular focus on women, youth, and marginalized groups.
The project focuses on: investing in local economic potential; simplifying the bureaucratic system; directing public policies toward the private sector; encouraging young people to remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina and start local businesses; strengthening local communities; establishing intersectoral and inter-municipal partnerships; and ensuring the transfer of knowledge and good practices.
The participating local communities are divided into two clusters. Cluster 1 includes: Zenica, Tešanj, Doboj Jug, Zavidovići, Žepče, Doboj, Kakanj, and Teslić. Cluster 2 includes: Banja Luka, Prijedor, and Čelinac.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Banja Luka Region – Prijedor Office is a partner in the “LED in BiH” Program.
